What is Animal Physical Therapy?

Animal Physical Therapy is a recognized science that focuses on evaluating, restoring & maintaining the health & function of companion animals.  Techniques from human physical therapy are adapted for companion & working animals.  Working with the Veterinarian, Owner & other veterinary professionals, our goals are to:

v      Promote healing

v      Promote an early return to function post surgery

v      Prevent complications from non-use of a limb

What Problems & Conditions Do We Treat?

We provide animal physical therapy services to non-surgical patients as well as patients recuperating from Orthopaedic, Soft Tissue or Neurological surgery.

v       Muscle, tendon or ligament injuries, strains, sprains, tendonitis.

v       Pain from injury, surgery or disability.

v       Joint injury, for example, arthritis, contractures, major multiple trauma.

v       Gait abnormality, lameness and/or changes in movement.

v       Neurological conditions, (e.g., degenerative myelopathy, fibrocartilagenous emboli, intervertebral disc disease).

v       Acute & chronic wounds – the latest in wound care technology borrowed from human physical therapy.

v      Aftercare for Orthopaedic surgeries, (e.g., cranial cruciate repairs, patellar luxation repairs, femoral head ostectomies, fractures).
